Even though the best of faces cherish to be captured through his lenses, noted photographer Raghu Rai wants to take shots of Union Minister Lalu Prasad and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati.

"Art is not about beauty. It is about expressions and energy. Penetrating and sarcastic forces intrigue me. I would love to photograph Lalu and Mayawati for the same even though I am not much influenced by politics," says Rai.

The 66-year-old photographer who is known to have done extensive work in photo documentation, is a member of Magnum Photos, the world's best known photographers' co-operative.

Rai is currently working on his next book 'Great masters of Indian Classical Music' that portrays 12 legendary musicians of Indian classical music.

"I always wanted to be a classical musician. But coming from a middle class background, I could never fulfill that interest. In this book I have compiled my pictures of my top 12 music exponents like M S Subbalakshmi, Bismillah Khan, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Bhimsen Joshi and Balamurali Krishna," he says.

On Tuesday, he came out with his new photo-book 'Delhi-Contrasts and Confluences' that was released by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

"It is my 3rd book on Delhi and a revised edition of 'Delhi'. The book is a photo-history of the city. The first picture was taken 40 years back," says Rai about the book that costs Rs 4,995 and is published by OM Books International.

According to Dikshit "Delhi has evolved through the ages and Raghu Rai has captured that process through his lenses. The diversity of the city has been captured in a single frame. And thats the most unique part of Raghu's work... unity in diversity."
