Days after the nationwide outcry over a complaint that the Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's name was missing from the electoral rolls, the cricketer has been enrolled in the voter list of Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency.

"His name has been enrolled in the supplementary list, which will be made available to all political parties and the personnel who will be posted at the booths," deputy commissioner Rajeev Arun Ekka said here on Friday, clarifying that enlisting names is a continuous process.

On March 10, Jharkhand Chief Electoral officer Debashis Gupta had asked the district administration to inquire after a complaint that the names of Dhoni and his family members were missing from the electoral rolls.

Ekka, however, said while the names of Dhoni's parents had been there in the list, only the dashing wicketkeeper-batsman's name was included in the supplementary list on Thursday.

The CEO said that as per election norms, names could be registered up to the last date of filing of nomination papers.

The LS polls in the state are scheduled in two phases on April 16 and 23. Ranchi will go to polls in the second phase.

India's ongoing cricket tour to New Zealand ends on April 7, raising hopes of Dhoni casting his vote in his home town.

Correction: Dhoni is a right-handed player.
