In a shocking incident, three members of a family tried to commit suicide by taking overdose of sleeping pills on Tuesday afternoon at Safal Parivesh building in Satellite area.

Parvez Bharucha, 60, Beroz Bharucha, 57, and their son Roozan Bharucha, 27, allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming overdose of sleeping pills at their house, said the Satellite police. The police have recovered three suicide notes, written in English, from their house.

The first suicide note says that they were committing suicide due to financial crisis as they were unable to repay the loan of Rs71 lakh that they had taken for business purposes.

Sources said that Roozan, a lab technician, had taken a loan of Rs71 lakh from one Dr Rajnikant Naik, Jayshree Naik, Janak and Naman for setting up a biomedical equipment factory. But, Roozan was now unable to repay the loan due to financial crisis resulting from recession. But, Nair was pressurising Bharuchas for repayment.

The second suicide notes state that Roozan was depressed as his marriage, scheduled on February 28, was cancelled due to some reasons. The third suicide note mentions family problems.

The Satellite police have taken the suicides notes into their possession and sent samples of sleeping pills to the FSL for test.

Senior PI of Satellite police station, JJ Patel, said, "It prima facie appears that the family was going through a financial crisis. It could be one of the reasons behind their attempt to commit suicide."

The Bharucha family's status and social position was said to be very good, which was evident from their luxurious apartment in the posh locality.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the 108 emergency service received a call stating that three persons had tried to commit suicide. Sources said that Roozan, who remained a little conscious after taking pills, managed to drag himself to the door of his house and called a neighbour for help, and 108 emergency service was called up.

They were first taken to Sola Civil Hospital, then shifted to Civil Hospital, Shahibaug, and from there they were referred to Sterling Hospital for better treatment. Sources said that all the three are stated to be in a critical condition.
