New Zealand scraps cricket tour of Pakistan

A day after the deadly terror attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, New Zealand on Wednesday cancelled its tour of Pakistan, scheduled to be played in November.
    
"We're not going and I think that's pretty clear. I don't think any international team will be going to Pakistan in the foreseeable future," New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justine Vaughan told Radio New Zealand.
    
Six members of the Sri Lankan team and a British coach were wounded as the players were heading to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium for the third day of the second Test match against Pakistan yesterday morning.
    
Eight people, six of them Pakistani police, were also killed by the armed terrorists.
    
"Now we've seen that cricket can be a target and I think it creates a whole new set of issues and raises the security issue to a whole new level," Vaughan said.

Vaughan, however, did not rule out the option of playing the series on a neutral venue.
    
"I think the options will probably revolve around playing them at a neutral venue. They have played previous games in the Gulf states, in Abu Dhabi," Vaughan said.
