Disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich signed a ‘six-figure’ deal on Monday to write a book about his rise and fall and the dark side of politics, his publicist said.
The twice-elected Chicago Democrat “plans on exposing the dark side of politics that he witnessed on both the state and national level,” publicist Glenn Selig said in a statement.
The publisher is Phoenix Books, which has come out with books from celebrities including Larry King and Gene Simmons, of hard rock band KISS. Prior to being elected governor in 2002, Blagojevich was a US representative from a slice of Chicago and its suburbs.
“He does not intend to pull any punches and will reveal information and provide insights that will at times be embarrassing to himself as well as to others,” Selig’s statement said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Blagojevich was impeached and subsequently removed from office for abuse of power.
