One of the much-hyped Police Control Room (PCR) vans, which were inaugurated by chief minister Narendra Modi two weeks ago, in its first such incident seized 20 bottles of foreign liquor from a man while he was crossing Vasna circle. The seized liquor is worth Rs3,850.

Police sources said that PCR van no 3, which was conducting vehicle checking at Vasna circle, spotted a man carrying a bag. During interrogation and checking, police recovered 20 bottles from his possession.

This is the first tangible success of the PCR van. Equipped with latest technology, the vans are expected to reach the scene of crime within a few minutes. But PCR van had failed to promptly reach the spot when Rs14.10 lakh was looted from an angadia firm at Saranpur under the Khadia police station and others.

However, control DCP DB Vagela said, "Apart from reaching the crime scene on time, the PCR vans are also conducting night checking and vehicles checking at important locations."
