Three women were injured when police burst tear gas shells on Thursday on the close of the 48-hour Manipur bandh called to protest the killing of a sub-divisional officer and two of his staff members by suspected hill-based militants, official sources said.
   
Sources said hundreds of womenfolk from Tera, Kwakeithel and other areas marched towards the official residence of the chief minister O Ibobi Singh to protest the killing of SDO Thingnam Kishan, his driver Aribam Rajen and an official Y Token.
   
As the they reached Tera area in Imphal West district, police burst at least 30 tear gas shells to prevent the march, sources said adding that three women were injured in the incident.
   
Sources said police were also trying to prevent similar march at Kwakeithel area in the same district.
   
Reports said all major roads leading to Imphal city were blocked by supporters of the bandh at different parts of the city by burning tyres, wood and other substances on the main roads, while several vehicles were destroyed at Khurai, Heirangoithong, Dinku Road, Singjamei and other places on the outskirts of Imphal by supporters of the bandh.

Reports said in the early hours of the day, some civilians were seen on the main roads in Imphal city but as the day progressed, hardly anyone was seen on the roads except bandh supporters, security personnel and media persons.
   
Police and Central para military forces were deployed at different parts of the city and its surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident, the reports said.
   
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), the biggest students' body in the state, also called a 12-hour general strike on Thursday from 6 am to protest the brutal killing of the three officials.
   
Official sources said efforts were on to prevent any communcal clash in the wake of the dastardly and cowardly killing of the three persons.
   
Reports said hundreds of women in mourning clothes staged sit-in protests at various parts of Imphal and greater Imphal areas.
   
Forces were also deployed at places where the women launched sit-in protests.
