An industrialist was shot dead in a suspected case of road rage in Ghaziabad on Tuesday morning.

The police say industrialist Raj Bahadur (35) and his father Prem Pal Singh had a heated argument with  a former village head, Bijendra Singh, over a “minor accident”. But things went out of hand, leading to the murder.

Bahadur owned a water purifying plant in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad and was one of the biggest suppliers of packaged drinking water in the area.

Ghaziabad SP Anant Dev said, “The victim and his father had rushed to Sahibabad after getting a call from their driver Ajay. Ajay was driving a company-owned truck when it hit Singh’s Honda City.  Ajay called up Bahadur after Singh beat him up.”

Ajay allegedly hit Singh’s car on a narrow road, says an agency report. An argument ensued when the father-son  duo reached the spot. As it grew ugly, Bahadur pulled out a revolver to “scare” Singh and asked him to back off.

However, within seconds, Singh pulled out his own licensed revolver and pumped four bullets into Bahadur’s chest before fleeing.

Locals rushed Bahadur to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A case of murder was registered against Singh. Two police teams have been constituted to nab him. “We are investigating the incident and will reveal more facts soon,” said Anant Dev.
