Hundrends of People on Tuesday, took to the streets in Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir to protest against non-availability of power, official sources said.
The protestors including women and children blocked the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road at Chandanwari for several hours demanding early restoration of power supply, the sources said.
Chanting slogans against the Power Development Department, the protestors hailing from Uri, Bijhama, Lachipora, Dingal, Chuna, Dewara, Boniyar, Bandi and Parimpilla alleged that power supply was snapped to their villages last month, the sources said.
However, they dispersed peacefully after senior civil officers visited the scene and assured them that their problems would be mitigated.
