The BJP accused the government of shying away from the truth on the Satyam scandal on Tuesday, saying it will raise the issue in Parliament along with that of global meltdown.

"We have moved a notice demanding a debate on the Satyam scandal and global economy. The UPA is shying away from discussing the truth. We maintain that Satyam is not a corporate fraud and is a governmental scandal and has deep roots with the political set-up," party leader Yashwant Sinha said after a meeting of the BJP's parliamentary party.

The issue of police atrocities on party leaders in Jharkhand also came up in the meeting and the party has decided to raise the issue during the debate on president's rule in the state during the session, he added.

On the interim budget, he said the "general feeling among members was that the budget presented on Monday by Pranab Mukherjee was more or less a no budget which has failed to address the problems faced by the economy".
