Work remained paralysed in all government departments and public sector undertakings in Jammu and Kashmir for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, due to a three day strike called by government employees demanding implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.

The employees who had gone on a two day strike last week resumed their agitation on Monday, following "unsatisfactory" response from the government to their pay hike demands.

The employees, from both government departments and public sector units, have stayed off their work for second consecutive day on Monday, to press their demands of implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendations, Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAF) leaders said here on Tuesday.

The strike has been called for implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations and enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years.

The strike has also affected the work in government offices and PSU's across Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.

However, officers were attending work in their respective offices, including civil secretariat in the winter capital, in the state, they added.
