IAS officer RK Pathak, chairman of the Gujarat Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), has been transferred to the civil supplies department as the managing director of the Gujarat State Civil Supply Corporation Ltd. Atanu Chakraborthy, IAS, has been relieved from the additional charge of MD.

Pathak’s tenure in GSHSEB witnessed two major events — the infamous dummy writer scam and the declaration of open-book exam system.

Last year, board chairman Pathak had to withstand a lot of pressure following the dummy writer scam which hounded the board for many months. The controversy erupted when two students — Harsh Kotak and Komal Patel — appearing for board exams allegedly feigned injuries to seek assistance of writers in the exams which was later exposed. They were subsequently debarred by the board from the examinations till 2011.

Apart from that, sources said, Pathak also rushed into announcing the open-book exam system last year. The decision was later overturned by the government.

Hasmukh Adhia, principal secretary, education department, has been given additional charge of GSHSEB chairman.

SI Patel, director (canals), Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL), has been given the additional charge of secretary, Narmada, water resources, water supply & kalpsar department.

The government has also renamed the post of MD, Gujarat Green Revolution Company Ltd. According to a notification, it will now be called Chairman & MD, Gujarat Green Revolution Company Ltd.
