A person wanted in a case of attempt to murder was among the nine killed in the derailment of Coromandel Express on Saturday evening, police said on Sunday.
    
Atanu Dutta, a resident of Mullickpara at Sreerampore in Hooghly district, had allegedly shot at a man in a clash occurred during Durga puja immersion in October last year.
    
"Atanu has been absconding since then and we wanted him in an attempt to murder case. We have received information that he has been killed on Friday's train accident at Jajpur," officer-in-charge of Sreerampore police station, Rabindranath Chakraborty, said.
    
According to family sources, Atanu was in S-3 and was going to visit his elder sister Moyna Khan, staying in Chennai.
    
His brother has gone to Cuttack and identified the body, the source added.
    
Chakraborty said, "We are keeping in touch with the family and once the relatives come, we will speak to them. We have told them to inform everything."
