Another hit-and-run claims life on SG highway

A 28-year-old resident of Bodakdev, Rajesh Ahuja, was killed and his colleague Vaishali Khodekar was seriously injured when the motorcycle that they were riding was hit.

A 28-year-old resident of Bodakdev, Rajesh Ahuja, was killed and his colleague Vaishali Khodekar was seriously injured when the motorcycle that they were riding was hit by a speeding vehicle near Kargil petrol pump on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway, early Sunday morning.

While Ahuja died on the spot, the girl, who was pillion riding, was rushed to the Sola civil hospital, from where she was referred to the New Civil Hospital. Sources said that the girl has received serious injuries and has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the New Civil hospital.

“According to the vehicle documents, Ahuja was a resident of Avdat apartment in Bodavdev and was passing through Rajpath Club when a speeding vehicle hit the bike - registration number GJ1 JP 9910 - killing Ahuja on-the-spot and injuring Khodekar,” said MV Makwana, PSI Sola police station and investigating officer.

Passers-by quickly informed the 108 emergency service, but Ahuja died before medical help arrived due to shock and haemorrhage.  Both Ahuja and Vaishali used to work at the Advantage Global, an advertising agency near Fun Republic.

Ahuja, who hails from Verawal, had been living in Ahmedabad for more than eight years as a paying guest. His father has a transport business in Verawal and his brother, Pavan Ahuja, runs a mobile shop near Vastrapur Lake.

The Sola high court police have lodged a case under accidental death and have started investigating the incident.
