Intellection, the youth idea exchange forum launched by an NGO ‘Youth to Youth’ has demanded that political parties field educated, visionary and young candidates below the age of 50 for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The forum has published a declaration and put forth the demand to political parties. Convenor of Intellection Prasoon Kanmadikar and president of Youth to Youth Mudra Shivaikar have published the declaration.
Member of the NGO Amey Jagtap said that there was a discussion among a group of young people for more than a fortnight. The declaration is its outcome.
The forum has a blog http://intellection-youth2youth.blogspot.com. It has described ‘Intellection’ as, “A step forward to substantially voice the opinion of the youth where it shall be heard and worked upon.”
The declaration says that Pune has a vibrant youth culture which is socially sensitive and active. However, this educated and perceptive youth is not represented in the city’s politics at the state and central level.
Pune has a strong need for young leadership, to usher in a change for the city’s all- round development.
It says, “We need a radical change in the political representation of the city at the centre and state. This will only happen if Pune has a Member of Parliament who can be called as the ‘People’s MP’”
It says that the terrorist attack of 26/11 has woken up the conscience of the people of India. Issues such as global recession, effects of climate change, sustainable development and green technologies have become important.
Prasoon Kanmadikar said that a copy of the declaration shall be sent to the presidents of all major political parties.
