Sir Gulam Noon — better known as UK’s Curry King — who had once berated Narendra Modi for his failure to act during the 2002 carnage, met Modi on Saturday, in an interaction garnished by newfound friendship.

The first meeting between the two had taken place in London, sometime after Noon had written an article in an Indian English daily, criticising Modi for not performing his duty when the post-Godhra riots broke out. Apparently, Modi was so impressed with
Noon’s piece that he went out of the way, during a London visit, to meet Noon.
During the half-an-hour meeting, Modi had presented a menu of reasons for the riots.
After that meeting, Noon became Modi’s good friend and received an invitation to visit Gandhinagar.

In fact, Noon has come to Ahmedabad with the express purpose of meeting the CM.
Noon was among the famous people who had narrowly escaped harm during the 2611 terror attacks at the Taj hotel in Mumbai. He was born and brought up in Mumbai and speaks Gujarati fluently. This is Noon’s first visit to India after 26/11.
