Civic body aims to prepare you for BRTS, and to pare down pollution and traffic.
Prepare to be towed away from your vehicle once a month — the AMC is planning regular ‘Car-Free’ days to groom you into readily accepting public transport by the time the Bus Rapid Transit System is launched.
The initiative, the civic body feels, will significantly reduce pollution levels, save fuel and decongest the city’s roads.
Today, the city traffic police, with the AMC support, have called for a car-free zone on the CG road. “To begin with, we will put up posters related to the BRTS on the CG road to raise awareness among citizens,” said the municipal commissioner, IP Gautam.
“We will continue the campaign to popularise public transport and the BRTS by calling for a Car-Free day once a month.”
