Though an official reply to the Indian dossier is awaited from Pakistan, investigators across the border appear to be probing the Mumbai carnage seriously, the government has said.

National security adviser MK Narayanan has said that Pakistan had responded to the Indian dossier with two sets of questions, responding in the manner an investigating agency should proceed.

“The Pakistan government has reverted [after receiving the dossier] to us and asked a number of questions, to which answers have been provided,” Narayanan said in CNN-IBN’s Devil’s Advocate.

He was responding to a query on the statement of Islamabad’s envoy to Britain Wajid Shamsul Hasan that 26/11 was not plotted in Pakistan.

Narayanan said, “I can only say that it is part of the dysfunctional manner in which several things are taking place in that country.”

Asked if he was satisfied with the Pakistani response to the dossier, he said, “I don’t know what the word satisfied [means], but certainly they appear to be taking things seriously and at least they are proceeding in a manner that one would expect an investigating agency to proceed, asking queries and not taking everything at the face value.”
