Floated in 1965 as a Tamil Nadu government enterprise to stimulate industrial development and leverage capital investment through joint ventures, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has been ushering a new paradigm in the industrial belt of Chennai and the state. TIDEL Park, a state-of-the-art information technology park in collaboration with Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (ELCOT) at Taramani on the IT corridor along the East Coast Road (ECR) stands as testimony to the innovative efficiency of TIDCO.

"The 1.3 million square feet facility on eight acres of land boasts of full occupancy. We are now planning two more such parks in JVs with DLF (Tidel II on 26 acres next to the American School) as well as Tata Group companies Tata Realty and Indian Hotels (Tidel III on 25 acres of the old MGR city). This will create another eight million square feet, of which the first phase of two million square feet will be ready in 18 months time. The two projects on 26 acres and 25 acres respectively will be based on multiple towers," TIDCO chairman and managing director S Ramasundaram told DNA.

The work on the two IT SEZs has already begun and the biggest advantage of the facilities is their ideal location. "There is no need for company buses on this route as it is well served by the mass rapid transport system. Even staffers of organizations at the present Tidel Park travel either in their own vehicles or use public transport," he explained.
