Tourists can now charter a train to their dream holiday destination with the Indian
Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation all set to roll such a train from the western sector next month.

Promising style and comfort, the chartered train tour package would handle every thing for the prospective clients from hotel booking, site seeing to choicest foods.

"The aim is to help the customer get rid of all travel related hassles and sink in the joy of holiday-making," additional general manager of IRCTC (West zone) Bela Meena said.

One such chartered train tour would be kicked off from the western sector as early as next month.

However, the services will come at a price and the packages will be tailor-made for customers.

IRCTC is in touch with corporate houses, who are interested in such packages for their employees.

"We are in touch with major telecom players interested in our chartered tour packages and have finalised three circuits where these service will run," she said.

The routes prepared by IRCTC for the services are Ahmedabad to Goa, Mumbai to Vaishnodevi and Mumbai to Tirupati.

These routes are much sought after, Meena said, adding that other sectors would be added depending upon the demand.

Travel planners feel that once the plan is set in motion, such a train would carve out an exclusive market for itself and rake in profits for the Railways.

The chartered train would have a minimum of 15 coaches mostly comprising a mix of AC and non-AC coaches, Meena said. Since these type of trains are known as 'full tariff train', charges will be levied even when the train is detained to facilitate site seeing.

Meena said that as many as 900 people can book a berth in the train.

IRCTC's latest move comes after the grand success of the Buddhist package, taking the passengers to prominent Buddhist circuits.

The Corporation also runs regular popular packages to tourist destinations across the country during peak seasons which have evoked a good response from all sections.
