Geophysicist killed while trying to stop a fight

A senior geophysicist with the Geological Survey of India (GSI) was killed, while trying to stop a fight between his maid and her husband at Vaishnavi Mata Nagar in Wadi here, police said on Thursday.
 
on Wednesday night, S K Chellani was hit with an axe by his domestic servant's husband Shridhar Vitthal Muley when he and his wife Chanda tried to stop Muley from attacking his wife and children, police said.
       
Chellani's servant used to have frequent quarrels withher husband Muley, police said, adding that Chellanis rushed to her place when they came to know about Wednesday's fight.
 
Enraged by their intervention, Muley hit Chellani with an axe killing him on the spot and injuring Chanda, they said.
 
Muley also went on to attack his wife and their children Jitu (12) and Shalini (10) and later fled from the spot, they added.
 
The condition of the Chanda was reported to be serious, police said, adding that a search was on to nab the accused.
