High alert in UP

Amid apprehension of a possible terror attack, an alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh and security has been beefed up at all important installations across the state ahead of the Repuplic Day on Monday.

District level officers, including the inspector generals (IGs), DIGs and the superintendents of police, have already been asked to make all necessary preparations and security arrangements as per the standard drill, additional director general of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal said here.

Railway board in the state has also put on high alert the divisional rail establishment at Moradabad, which manages scores of railway stations under Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, following a phone call claiming that four terrorists from there have been deployed to attack the rail network on Republic day.

Policemen have been asked to conduct anti-sabotage drive in the areas where the Republic Day functions would be held, besides carrying out checks of all the hotels, dhabas (eating stalls), railway and bus stations, markets and cinema halls.
