Officials should not visit secretariat without reason:CM

The state government issued a circular following a directive from the chief minister asking the administrative secretaries to put in place monitoring arrangements.

Officers of Jammu and Kashmir government are restricted from visiting the secretariat without any specific reason or being called by the minister concerned or the administrative secretary.
 
The state government issued a circular on Tuesday following a directive from the chief minister asking the administrative secretaries to put in place monitoring arrangements with a view to ensure that the field officers are not seen roaming in the civil secretariat on any pretext without any prior authority of the head of the department or the administrative secretary concerned.
 
In case, any such violation comes to the notice of the administrative secretary or the government, disciplinary action shall be initiated against the concerned officer, it said.
 
The order has been issued to ensure accountability and timely response of the state administration to the pressing needs of the people as this will help the officers of the various departments to concentrate on their work in their areas of operation and jurisdiction.
      
The circular has also directed that the district officers, divisional and state-level heads of the departments should not to leave their headquarter without prior permission of the district development commissioner, divisional commissioner or the administrative secretary concerned.
