Government duty-bound to act tough on terror: Advani

Senior BJP leader LK Advani on Saturday, said that it is the duty of the government to take a tough stance against terrorism.

"Following the recent Mumbai terror attacks, the government should take a tough stance on this kind of violence," Advani said at the inaugural session of the Jain International Trade Organisation's (JITO) Global Summit in Ahemdabad.

Drawing similarities between violence and global warming, the BJP leader said environment pollution and climate change due to global warming is also a form of violence which needs to be tackled urgently.

Reiterating his stance of "zero tolerance" towards any form of terrorism in the country, Advani said, "BJP believe in zero tolerance towards any form of violence - be it terrorism or global warming - and are committed to fight it with appropriate measure."

Speaking about the image of politicians among people, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said, "There is an urgent need to change the image of 'ugly' Indian politics which has been because of incidents of corruption."

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who was also present in the summit said that Jains as a business community had contributed a lot to the state.

He also said that the holy week of Parushan will be celebrated as Jeevan Raksha Saptah in Gujarat from this year.

Over 1,500 delegates from different countries across the world had gathered here to participate in the summit.
