Teasing a friend, costs teenager his life

A teenger was beaten to death with a bat allegedly by his friend after he teased him during a cricket match in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, police said in Dehradun on Friday.

A teenger was beaten to death with a bat allegedly by his friend after he teased him during a cricket match in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, police said in Dehradun on Friday.

Yasin Ahmed, 14, who suffered grievous head injuries in the incident at Gaindikhata village, died on the spot.

The incident occurred on Thursday when the boys were playing cricket in the village.

Suddenly Yasin cracked a joke on his friend who was batting. Angered by his remarks, the young boy charged at Yasin with a bat and repeatedly hit him. Yasin died within minutes.

Tension gripped the area as a large number of people gathered to protest against the killing. Haridwar SSP Sanjay Gunjyal rushed to the spot and the the assailant was arrested and sent to a juvenile home.
