NEW DELHI: The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Saturday said it will set up a motor driving institute in Uttarakhand for imparting training and spreading awareness towards road safety.

The company has signed an agreement with the state government to set up and manage the driving institute at Jhajra village in Dehradun, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in
a statement.

"Road safety is our flagship CSR initiative and we are happy to have a partner in Uttarakhand government in this endeavour... It requires an integrated approach of different stakeholders such as public, vehicle manufacturers, government, civil society etc," Maruti Suzuki managing director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said.

Besides, imparting motor driving skills and technical training to the public, the institute would assist, advise and support the state government in activities that would contribute to safety on the roads and facilitate in improving the transport system of the state, the company said.

Maruti Suzuki has already two such institutes each in Delhi and Haryana and one in Gujarat.
