Measures to tackle bird flu in Arunachal

The state government has set up rapid response teams to ensure that the ban on entry of poultry birds and products is adhered to.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh is taking all possible measures to prevent an outbreak of avian influenza following the spread of the disease in Assam and West Bengal.

While the state government had banned import of poultry birds and products into the state since December 12, a team of senior officials of the animal husbandry and veterinary department has been formed to tackle any eventuality relating to bird flu.

Rapid response teams and operational work force of the department have been formed for constant surveillance and surprise checks.

A mobile team has also been formed to constantly monitor and conduct surprise raids to ensure that the ban on the entry of poultry products is being adhered to.
