Taj staff undergo police verification

NEW DELHI: Learning fast from the Mumbai terror attack, the Taj Group of Hotels is making efforts to make sure a repeat doesn’t happen. To ensure staff and guest safety, the hospitality giant has decided to make police verification of all staffers, especially those who have joined recently, mandatory.

Sources in the group confirmed the heightened security initiative. They said staffers were being frisked everyday after the Mumbai attack at hotel entry points. They said the frisking will continue till antecedents of all staff members are checked by police. “There is a sense of fear among the staff. I don’t think one of us could be involved (in the Mumbai attack), but a police check is still a good measure,” a senior staffer said.

The special branch of Delhi Police is helping the group in the process.
