2 students booked for filming and threatening a college girl

JALANDHAR: In an incident of crime student of local Doaba College first filmed a girl with his handy-cam on Monday and when she latter resisted he along with another friend assaulted her in full public view in the college. Later some persons allegedly went to the residence of the girl and threatened her family including her ailing father and indulged in vandalism.
  
The incident has triggered anger among the girl students of the college and their parents as it has raised a question mark over the protection of their dignity while studying in Co-ed colleges.
  
As per the complainant of the Girl to police,  Vishal Bajaj, a student of B.Com (Final year) started filming her, while
college was on and when she objected to it he not only threatened her but also assaulted her with the help of his friend Manu who is not a student of the college, police sources said.
  
Devinder Kohli, father of the guirl alleged that the accused not only threatened her family members but also indulged in
vandalism. Meanwhile sources close to the girl's family revealed that a threatening SMS was also sent to the girl in which it was threatened that in case she would approach police acid would be thrown on her face.
  
Police of Division No. 3 have registered a case against Vishal and Manu under sections 341, 354 and294 of IPC and have arrested Manu while Vishal, a resident of Central Town is still at large. Vishal has been rusticated from the college.

Parents of the girl along with their supporters met SP City I Dr S K Kalia seeking immediate action against the accused. Kalia said that the he was told about the threatening SMS.
   
Meanwhile a separate complaint about the threats and vandalism at girl's house was lodged at Police Station Division No 4. SHO Nirmal Singh said that they were enquiring into this complaint also.
