KOLKATA: Desperate to break-out of her post-Nano anti-industry image, Trinamool Congress chief, Mamata Banerjee on Monday vowed to take up industrialisation on a priority basis if her party is voted to power in West Bengal.

Speaking at Nandigram on Monday, Mamata said, “If we come to power, I will show the people of West Bengal what is called proper industrialisation. The people of the state will feel the effect of industrialisation within just six months,” she said.

She was in Nandigram to campaign for the forthcoming bi-elections. She said the Trinamool candidate would be a member of any of those families who lost their dear ones during last year’s violence.

She alleged that the CPI(M) would try to take armed control of Nandigram before the elections.

Mamata did not react to CPI(M) MP Lakshman Seth’s statement that people of Haldia, near Nandigram, would break down the legs of Trinamool leaders if they try to resist the proposed chemical hub at Nayachar.

The restraint was, however, confined to Mamata alone. Trinamool MLA Subhendu Adhikari said, “We will go to Nayachar only next week and see who tries to stop us.”
