Cuffe Parade police arrested three persons, including a Nigerian national, for allegedly duping an employee of a private firm in Hyderabad to the tune of Rs59,000.
The police said that the three had allegedly offered Bhargav Subbarao Chikiralla, 30, a job as a manager in a three-star hotel in London and tricked him into depositing the money in their bank account. Christopher Mark Daniel alias Smart, 33, Sayyed Rashik Ali Hussain Ali, 42, an estate agent and his wife Roshan Gulam Abubacker, 36, were arrested on Sunday from Mira Road.
To make a quick buck, the Daniel and Sayyed sent mails claiming a vacancy in Central Park Hotel in London.
Chikiralla, a manager in Panzer Computer Company, received the mail on May 5. Two days after filling the form, a man named Clary Clew , claiming to be from the British Consulate in Mumbai, contacted him asking for a deposit of Rs8,000 as processing fees be made in Abubacker’s account in Bank of Baroda.
Till October 15, Chikiralla deposited Rs59,000 in the same account. Suspecting foul play he visited the British Consulate on October 17 and met the real Clary Clew, a woman. When he realised he had been duped he lodged a complaint with the Cuffe Parade police.
