Cable guys to get classroom training

To train cable operators in soft and technical skills, YOU Telecom, is setting up YOU Academy.

The academy will train cable TV operators, technicians from broadband and video fields for technological proficiency and service efficiency.

The company will also train operators in soft skills. "We have included the soft skills bit, keeping in mind the increase in need for customer satisfaction," says Ismail Sheriff, AGM-Corporate Communications, YOU Telecom.

Technical training will be a mix of classroom and field exposure to live cabling/ network maintenance. It will range between 7 days to 4 weeks.

Classroom training will be held in a lab that will make use of 'Miniature Network Infrastructure' created using Motorola equipment. In this, trainees will be explained the process and functioning of the broadband cable via live demonstration. 

For field training the faculty will take the trainees to actual cable network centres. 
Modules are divided into four to five steps. These include connectisation, bandwidth management and digitisation.

After stringent assessment of technicians on various parameters, YOU Academy give them a certificate.
