ISLAMABAD: Pakistani film maker and Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla’s uncle Satesh Anand, who was abducted in Karachi on Monday, is believed to have been killed.

Karachi police said Satesh, who was kidnapped at gun point on Monday by unidentified persons, might have been killed as no ransom call has been received as yet.
A former chairman of the Pakistan Film Censor Board and a well-known figure in the world of television, newspapers and advertising, Satesh was abducted when he was returning home in his car.

According to his driver, when the car approached the National Hockey Stadium, two men drew close to the car and one of the them took out Satesh at gunpoint, dialed his mobile and told someone, “Congratulations, the work has been done”.

The kidnappers then pricked the driver on the arm with something sharp, probably some injection, because he fell unconscious. Later, when he recovered, he saw Satesh was gone.

Police said the incident cannot be termed “kidnapping for ransom” and militants might be involved.

Satesh had hosted Juhi Chawla twice in the past during her trips to Karachi.

Approached for comments, the Karachi police chief said: “I cannot share any information because this is a case of kidnapping and as such, very sensitive.”

Satesh, a Pakistani by birth, entered the world of showbiz after the death of his father Jessie Anand, also a Pakistani filmmaker and distributor,
died.

He produced a number of movies  including Ishq, Laila, Noor-e-Islam, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and Hathi Mere Sathi and has released several Indian movies in Pakistan.
