NEW DELHI: Condemning the attack on railway board examination centres in suburban Mumbai by MNS activists, the CPI on Monday demanded arrest of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, saying any leniency shown to these "divisive forces" will have
far reaching consequences on the unity and integrity of the country.

The CPI said such attacks should not be tolerated and Thackeray and his supporters must be "immediately arrested and prosecuted".

"Any leniency shown to these divisive forces will have far reaching consequences for the unity and integrity of the country," a party statement said.

The party said the attack was "pre-planned" and part of the "continued parochial and divisive" campaign launched by the MNS.

"The failure of the police and intelligence is quite obvious," the statement claimed.

The CPI's statement came as a response to the attack on 13 railway board examination centres in suburban Mumbai by MNS activists who protested "inadequate representation" to locals and chased away candidates from north India.
