Inzy’s men must win against Rockets to keep their chances alive

AHMEDABAD: When Lahore Badshahs had their nets on Saturday, it seemed more of a hitting session. Whatever, it mirrors the the impact of shortest form of the game.

The hitting was so powerful that people watching their practice from the other side of the boundary had to scurry for cover. Everyone, ranging from Imran Nazir to Shahid Yousuf and bowlers Mohammad Sami to Naved-ul Hasan used the power-play, stating that T20 is all about hitting hard.

The Inzamam ul Haq led outfit will face hosts Ahmedabad Rockets on Super Sunday in the 12th match of Indian Cricket League 20s Championship at the Sardar Patel Stadium here.

Inzamam complained of back pain and left the session early and looked a doubtful starter. However, coach Moin Khan maintained that the former Pakistan captain will play in the crucial encounter.

Badshahs have lost both their matches and desperately need to open their account to stay in fray for the knockout stage.

“We had a tough time but we hope to put everything behind us and win our next matches. Everyone is working hard to get back to winning ways,” Mustaq Ahmed said.

On the other hand, the Rockets are pumped up after an exhilarating Friday night victory over Mumbai Champs. Once again the onus will be on explosive batsman Ryan Campbell to continue from where he left.

The good news is that Damien Martyn is in good form. Young Parvez Aziz also showed his shade when he took on Michael Kasprowicz the other day.

After Friday’s win, Martyn said, “It is good that our batsmen are in good form. We hope to continue in next match.” The Australian acknowledged the crowd support.
