Endemol India Private Limited, the producers of reality TV show Bigg Boss, moved the Bombay High Court for quashing of the FIR filed against them.
Endemol India Private Limited, the producers of reality TV show Bigg Boss, on Monday moved the Bombay High Court for quashing of the FIR filed against them on October 4.
Sunil Ahire, president of Mumbai Pradesh Youth Congress, had filed a complaint at the Andheri police station terming the show “indecent and vulgar”. Endemol in its petition has said Ahire did not cite any example to justify his allegation. The company said Nirupam, who was a participant, was voted out by others. And this elimination had a “significant role” in the filing of the FIR.
Politicians were attacking the show to get “cheap publicity” and rival TV channels were blowing up the issue, read Endemol’s petition.
Nirupam, however, said the complaint had nothing to do with his elimination. “I was out
of the show in August and the FIR was filed a few days ago. I refused to a wild card entry as it was becoming very vulgar. Taking a cue from my statement in a newspaper the Mumbai Pradesh Youth Congress filed the complaint,” he said.
The next hearing is on October 24.
