LUCKNOW: As many as 29 Congress leaders of Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district on Saturday resigned en masse from the party's primary membership accusing senior leaders of ignoring them, party sources said.

The outgoing leaders accused Congress party legislator Pramod Tiwari, who has been winning all assembly elections since 1980, of undermining their efforts and neglecting them.

"In this regard, we have sent a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi," party's district general secretary Rajendra Singh said over phone from Pratapgarh, nearly 150 km from Lucknow.

Those who resigned include party's former state secretary Om Prakash, members of the district Congress committee and those associated with the party's front organisations.

Meanwhile, Prakash said although he had full faith on Sonia Gandhi and other national leaders of the party, it was unfortunate that active party workers and activists working at grassroot level were being ignored by some leaders.
