'Harbhajan can't play for Aussie side in CT'

MELBOURNE: Harbhajan Singh's reported bid to play for Victoria or Western Australia in the inaugural Twenty20 Champions League has not materialised after Cricket Australia on Thursday said the competition rules does not permit the Indian offie to represent the Australian domestic sides.     

What went against Harbhajan was that he had not played for either side during last summer's Australian domestic Twenty20 competition, when the Bushrangers and Warriors qualified for the tournament in India.
    
"It's an interesting prospect when you think about it because he's a champion player, but it's my understanding from the management here that he would not be eligible," a CA spokesman was quoted as saying by Australian Associated Press.
    
Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai will host the eight-team USD six-million prize-money tournament from December 3 to 10 and the winners will take home USD three million.
    
The eight teams include the winners and runners-up of domestic Twenty20 competitions from the three founding members -- India (Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Superkings), Australia (WACA and Victoria), South Africa (Noshua Titans and Noshua Dolphins), England (Middlesex) and Pakistan (the winner will be determined from their domestic competition beginning on October 4).
