NCW demands security for women working in night shifts

National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday asked the Delhi Police to ensure security for women working in night shifts and sought details of the probe into the incident.

NEW DELHI: Perturbed over the death under mysterious circumstances of a young TV journalist, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday asked the Delhi Police to ensure security for women working in night shifts and sought details of the probe into the incident.
    
Taking suo motu congnizance of the death of 25-year old TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan, the commission has sought information from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West Delhi) about the incident.
    
"We have asked the police as well as companies to ensure security for women working in night shifts," NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas said.
    
A team of commission members, led by Vyas, also visited the parents of the victim.
    
Vishwanathan, a journalist with a leading TV channel was found dead in her car early morning yesterday. A post mortem conducted soon after showed that the death was due to a bullet lodged in her head.
