HYDERABAD: Bureaucrat-turned-politician Jayaprakash Narayan on Wednesday said his Lok Satta Party is not averse to electoral alliances in Andhra Pradesh but asserted that the prospective ally should "practically" display its commitment to clean politics.

"We are not not averse to alliances. But we will have alliance with only those parties which would not buy votes by offering money and which would not distribute liquor. They should practically display their commitment to fight against corruption-free politics," he said in an interaction with mediapersons on the occasion of the second anniversary of his party.

Narayan, a former member of the Administrative Reforms Commission, launched the Lok Satta Party after an illustrious career in the bureaucracy.

Asked how he assessed the party's electoral strength as it is mainly seen as a party of intellectuals and middle classes, he said Lok Satta's ideology has received massive response from the people and efforts were on to reach out to the masses.

Releasing statement of accounts of his party for 2007-08, Narayan said, "perhaps, other parties would also submit their statement of accounts to the Election Commission. But are they doing it genuinely? We stand for total transparency."

He would address a public meeting in Vijayawada on Thursday on the occasion of the second anniversary.

The party has already released its election manifesto of "50 guarantees" to enable a public debate on them.
