He can spin the ball in a way that it leaves the batsman baffled on the cricket field. Harbhajan Singh, the cricketer is however a newcomer when it comes to dancing.
“It was quite an interesting experience working in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena. I had loads of fun, and that is one of the main reasons for taking up this offer even though I am not used to dancing,” he says. His partner on the show Mona Singh came as a god send.
“Apart from the choreographers assigned to us, Mona has been teaching me to dance. She is a fabulous dancer and she knows the tricks of the trade,” he says. In fact, Mona is already a good friend now. He says, “We speak in Punjabi and its really a lot of fun to dance with her. I did goof up some times but she really helped me. We rocked together and you have to see it to believe it,” he says proudly.
He took up the show purely because he had too much free time in hand after IPL.
Unlike other dance reality shows, EKEH are pre recorded as the cricketers could only give a few fixed dates. So, there would be no SMS voting for people to do. “I think all these SMS system is nothing but a ploy to cheat people. Who knows who is sending how many SMSes and who is getting it, this only benefits the channel by making full use of publicity. So, let the audience have some fun without spending unnecessary money,” he says.
His controversial colleague Sreesanth is also a part of the show. (Remember Bhajji slapping him on the cricket field?) Bhajji says all that is a thing of the past. “We have moved on. We are great friends and I think he is one of the best dancers amongst us.”
Bhajji’s anger has always been his downfall. He says he has learnt from his past mistakes. “Now I know better. I don’t have to go through yoga or some other course to control my anger. I have learnt my lessons,” he says.
Is Bollywood the next step? “No. I did the show just because I had time in my hand, But I am not aiming at films or TV shows for sure. Cricket is my first love and I want to love it continuously till the end of time,” he says with a chuckle.
Talking about cricket, Harbhajan is most excited about the upcoming matches with Australia. “I am practicing really hard for the series. I am sure we can beat them, “ he says with his typical exuberance.
In spite of him being linked to numerous girls, the recent being actor Geeta Bara, Singh insists that he is still single. Ask him if his cricketer friends try to hook him up with someone and he says with a laugh, “They are all good kids. I am waiting for my turn to get the love of my life.”
