KARACHI: Former Pakistan batsman Qasim Umar has cited absence of an entertaining night life and not security apprehensions as the reason behind Australia and other international teams' hesitance in touring the country.

Australia cancelled a tour to Pakistan following serial blasts but have decided to go ahead with their India tour next month despite serial explosions in New Delhi last week.

Umar felt the Aussies and other international teams would any day prefer to tour India because of the nightlife besides the several money-earning opportunities the country offers.

"In Pakistan when they come here, it is not the same thing. When they come to Pakistan they don't get such benefits like moving around, having drinks widely open to them, nightclubs, casinos, discos etc. That's why they avoid Pakistan," he told 'Geo News'.

Umar said even on security grounds, the Aussies were justified in cancelling their tour as their fears were based on genuine concerns.

"I agree with them, they can refuse to come. If you think it is a vindictive matter, against Pakistan or Muslims, then it is wrong, if they have concerns regarding security, then they are right in not touring," Umar said.

He also hit out at the Pakistan Cricket Board saying that it was in dire straits.

"It is in the hands of very incompetent people, and the situation is so bad that only a miracle can now turn our cricket into good.

"They are simply employing those people who have never lifted a cricket bat in their life. They are not interested in any benefit of the game and their main aim is to make money out of the game," Umar said.
