CHENNAI: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, a strong critic of the Indo-US nuclear deal, on Friday demanded resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh alleging that he had hidden the "fact" that the country could not undertake a nuclear test if the deal is operationalised.

In a statement, she said, "The Centre has been telling that the deal will not have any impact on the country's nuclear capabilities. But the disclosure by the Bush administration to one of the US congressmen revealed that if India carries out a nuclear test, the deal will be scrapped."

"What is hidden in the agreement is out now and the hide and seek game played by the UPA government on the deal has come to an end," the former Tamil Nadu CM said.

The Centre had pledged the country's sovereignty to the US, she charged. "We cannot tolerate such a government any more as it put a big question mark before the country's sovereignty," she said.

The Prime Minister should quit without terming the US disclosure as an internal affair of America, she said.
