People of Thailand call Pattaya the ‘entertainment city’ and true to their words the place simply buzzes with activity, excitement and fun. Pattaya is just about a two-hour drive from Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. Pattaya attracts tourists from different countries every year. The city is like a huge open bar and a restaurant. While your car is zooming past the narrow but very clean roads of Pattaya all you will see are rows of bars, restaurants and massage parlours on one side and the sprawling and sparkling beach on the other.
Adventure trip
The star attraction of this city is undoubtedly the Coral Island. The first thing that one should do here, is go paragliding. The surprise element of this ride is the sudden drop from a height as you come down into the cool water. Just when you feel you are about to drown you are lifted again, up into the sky. Stretch your hands wide as you climb again to feel a thrill of sheer freedom for 15 minutes. Then a speed boat takes you to a place right in midst of the sea, where you can dive underwater, though not too deep, even walk on the river bed and touch the amazing coral formations. Allowing hundreds of tiny fishes to come and feed pieces of bread from your hand is a lovely experience.
The water adventure done, just chill out by the shacks on the beach and sip some fresh coconut water or beer and munch on boiled sweet corn.
Taste of nightlife
Most tourists also look forward to the various sex shows in Pattaya. The evenings are the best time to catch the Tiffany show – performed by ‘lady boys’. And guess what? Unless somebody tells you that all the performers are actually ‘lady boys’ or men who have changed their sex, you would never have guessed the same, while seeing the beautiful dancers performing on Dola re dola from Devdas and other popular, international dance numbers. Before midnight, rejuvenate yourself with a comforting foot massage and make sure you are fresh and active as the night in Pattaya is just beginning to get young.
Food and shopping
The non-vegetarian food is a must-have here. For shoppers who are looking for some kinky surprises, might find what a lot in store here. You can also do some good jewellery shopping. The Gem Centre in Pattaya is a heaven for every woman. And if you think that Pattaya is just about chilling and shopping, the Nong Nooch village shows give you a taste of true Thai culture. Here comes a surprise – as elephants paint for you, they play foot ball and also give you a good massage – no kidding! For good photo ops, elephants will carry you in their trunks and also make you sit on them. Plenty of fun, guaranteed!
