NEW DELHI: Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar will be presented with a luxury car of his choice by real estate developer JMD Ltd.

"It is a great achievement by Sushil. He is the new icon for Delhi and I will give him his dream car for his extra-ordinary effort and performance in the Olympics," said JMD Group Director Karan Bedi.

This luxury car from the company would be a rewarded to the country's latest sporting sensation, he added.

"It will be irrespective of price and brand. Whatever car he opts for, we will present it to him," Bedi said in a generous gesture.

Kumar became only second Indian wrestler after K D Jadhav, who won a bronze in 1952 Helsinki Games, to clinch the honour.

Various government and private organisations have announced rewards, including cash prize to the tune of Rs 1.76 crore, to Sushil.

Already three steel PSUs -- SAIL, NMDC and RINL have announced a cash reward totaling Rs 25 lakh to Sushil for his outstanding feat.

Delhi and Haryana governments have also rewarded the Baaprola boy with Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh respectively.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had also announced Rs 55 lakh reward for the grappler, besides promoting the Railway employee to Assistant Commercial Manager from Ticketing Inspector.

Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan also chipped in with Rs 25 lakhs and mooted the idea of a talent promotion fund worth Rs 10 crore for development of sports in tribal belts.

"We need to promote sports which are closer to nature, like wrestling, archery and swimming. Now champions like Sushil (Kumar) have proven that India's strength lies in these games," Paswan said here.

While felicitating Sushil, Paswan advised him to keep an eye on 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games and 2012 London Olympics.

"I was inspired when he (Paswan) asked me to enter into the ring as a champion. This 'superior' belief perhaps made me do well in Beijing," Sushil said while recalling his pre-Olympics experience.

"The ministry shall also promote the other two wrestlers -- Yogeswar Dutt and Rajiv Tomar, who represented India in Beijing," Paswan said.

Sushil's coach Satpal Singh was also present on the occasion.
