Kalpana Pandit shot into prominence as the item girl in the number Jaan Leva… from the 2001 film Moksha. A spate of box office flops later, is one the verge of signing a Hollywood film! And that too with Warner brothers!

The actor, who ‘always had a huge crush on Amitabh Bachchan’, is about to sign on the dotted line.

“I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have met up with two of the top bosses in Warner Brothers — Barry Mayer, the chairman and CEO and Alan Horn, the president and chief operating officer. I have another meeting with them in a few days. However, at the moment I am not supposed to divulge too much information,” she said.

Kalpana was also recently seen at the premiere of The Dark Knight in New York City. There, she interacted with top Hollywood studio executives, film-makers and actors also like Morgan Freeman, Danny De Vito and Christian Bale.

“It was the most awe-inspiring experience I’ve had. Moreover, it was perhaps the first Hollywood black carpet walk. It wasn’t red carpet because of Heath Ledger’s death. However, one of the things I noticed was that the people in Hollywood are very easily approachable and down-to-earth,” she says.

When asked what their views on Bollywood were, Kalpana says, “All of them expressed extreme interest in Bollywood. They said they want to be associated with it. They were all fascinated by the dance and music of Bollywood and the ‘colourful stories’. It felt pretty good when someone said ‘you guys are a lot bigger than we are; yours is the biggest film industry in the entire world’.”

Kalpana’s next release is a romantic comedy called Love Khichdi.

Speaking about her role she says, “I play a very glamourous corporate woman. My look is the kind of look that Bipasha Basu had in Corporate. It’s an ultra strong woman type of character.”
