Stallone gets a 'desi' cut

Shabina Khan is designing costumes for the Hollywood star

After designing a turban for hip-hop sensation Snoop Dogg in Singh Is King, designer Shabina Khan has deepened her footprints in Hollywood with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakht Ishq. She has now designed for two A-listers there — Rocky star Sylvester Stallone and actor Brandon Routh of Superman.

“I was in Los Angeles designing for Akshay (Kumar) when Sajid asked me to design for Sylvester Stallone and Brandon Routh. Akshay plays a stunt double in the film so he’s always around these stars. It’s not like they have a guest appearance. They are a part of the script. It was quite exciting designing for them. I give Sajid all the credit for giving me this opportunity after being around for so many years,” says Shabina.

What kind of outfits will we see Stallone in? “Basically, he plays himself. When you meet someone like him you know he’s so dashing that you don’t need any specific costume to enhance his personality. Brandon features in a specific ballroom scene and Akshay’s wearing something similar to him in that scene. So I have designed the outfit accordingly,” says Shabina.
