NEW DELHI: Terrorists’ penchant for bicycles to plant bombs in various cities of the country has finally started to show effect in the national capital as well with the cops taking a decision to make it mandatory for a potential buyer to show an identity card at the time of the purchase.

Though the decision had been pending for almost six months, and with Independence Day celebrations less than a fortnight away, the decision has been finalised to avert any subversive activities in the national capital.

New Delhi has been a hot target for the terrorists for a long time. A joint crime meeting with the neighbouring states was also organised and the Delhi police have asked the different police forces to make it mandatory the decision mandatory in their respective areas.

Police forces of Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab often conduct meetings to streamline the data sharing about criminals and anti-nationals so as to provide a security blanket on Delhi. As a result of the decision, the neighbouring cities that would come under the scanner are Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad for their proximity to Delhi.

The decision has also come as an eye-opener because most of the blasts carried out using  bicycles.

The blasts in Jaipur were also carried out on bicycles and the terrorists had apparently issued a pre-recorded video of bomb being installed on them.
