The former model began attending parties after a gap

LONDON: Padma Laksmi, the estranged wife of controversial Indian author Salman Rushdie, is back on the London Party circuit only to find her past chasing her wherever she goes.

The 37-year-old former model attended the posh Quintessentially Summer Arts Party after a brief gap where some party goers worried about red faces as she realised that her former stepson Zafar Rushdie was also at the bash, a media report said.

The Indian/American cookbook author who has been missing from the party scene for quite sometime, was spotted attending one do this week. Her book, Easy  Exotic, had won the Best First Book in 1999 at the Worldbook Awards.

“Padma is more often spotted on the other side of the pond these days since finding fame with US cookery show Top Chef," the report said.

The former actress had filed for divorce from the author last year after a courtship of three years. The two had the tied knot in 2004.
