Bomb recovered in school premise

KANNUR: A 'high intensity' bomb was recovered on Friday in the premises of a school in the politically sensitive Thalassery belt which recently witnessed clashes between the rival CPI-M and BJP, police said.

The 'steel' bomb was found concealed inside a PVC pipe at the Koduvally Government Higher Secondary premise after a student noticed the explosive, they said.

Meanwhile, the BJP accused the CPI-M of vitiating the "prevailing peaceful atmosphere" in the sensitive area which witnessed clashes between the rival political parties leading to the murder of seven people earlier this year.
